Where to Spend New Years Eve in the UAE
It seemed like it was just yesterday when we ring in the year 2018 with splendor and bravado.
Twelve short months have passed us by and we are creeping to the end of another year. In a few short days, 2018 will end as we usher in 2019 with the best that pyrotechnics and fireworks have to offer in the UAE.
We have curated a list of options to welcome 2019 with grandeur. Here are your best bets to watch the fireworks to ring in 2019.
Burj Khalifa Fireworks
No list would be complete without this entry. If there is one place to watch the NYE Fireworks, then it has to be Burj Khalifa. Something about seeing the dazzling fireworks and lights brighten up the world’s tallest tower, next to the mammoth Dubai Mall is amazing in itself.
There will be a show featuring laser displays, fireworks and LED Shows. Expect a massive crowd at this place.
Arrive very early to get a good spot to see the fireworks or book a table at many restaurants at the Dubai Mall or Souq Al Bahar area.
Walk along the Palm Jumeirah boardwalk which essentially stretches around a portion of the Palm. You can watch the wonderful fireworks at the Atlantis.
If you want, you could also attend the Royal Gala 2018 which takes place at the Atlantis – there will be a 30 piece live band, a grand buffet and views of the fireworks display.
Dubai Festival City Fireworks
A great thing about this location is you can spend the entire day at Festival City – shop around, grab a bite to eat and even watch a movie. Closer to the night time – you can enjoy the fireworks.
Beginning at 9 pm onwards on the 31st – there will be four fireworks taking place at Festival Bay, one for every hour.
Ensure that you arrive early – this should be easy as there is so much to do at the mall itself before the actual fireworks.
Burj Al Arab Fireworks
The classic fireworks around the sail-shaped hotel is a sight to wonder.
Reserve a nice spot by the beach at Kite beach or Al Sufouh Beach for uninterrupted views of the fireworks.
Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi
This is something not to miss – this beautiful island in Abu Dhabi will transform itself into a massive concert area with performances by Amr Diab and Myriam Fares.
Don’t worry, there will be large screens all around so you watch the concerts in case you don’t make it to the front.
In addition to the performances, you can witness wonderful fireworks that light up the sky.
Yas Island, Abu Dhabi
Head to Yas Marina to witness fireworks at the stroke of midnight. There are many dining outlets around the area so make sure to book in advance.
Al Marjan Island, RAK
Last but not the least – visit Al Marjan Island in RAK for an unforgettable experience.
A little backstory, in the year 2018 a dazzling display at Al Marjan set a Guinness World Record for the “largest aerial firework shell”. The show lasted for a full 13 minutes with rockets launching from over a 100 locations.
With fireworks promising to dazzle, Al Marjan Island is a perfect getaway to watch the fireworks.
