Explore Dubai: 5 Things to do that are free (or cost next to nothing)

What you read is correct! There are plenty of things you can do in Dubai that are free (Or will cost you a couple of Dirhams). So, if you recently moved to Dubai or want ideas for your staycation, these places are perfect for you!

Relax on a beach

Another wonderful way to spend the day is to laze around at the beach. Grab that book you’ve been waiting to read, a bag of crisps and some suntan- and you’re set. Dubai hosts many excellent public beaches. Many of them are equipped with changing rooms too.  There are a variety of beaches to choose from such as Umm Suqeim Beach, Kite Beach and the ever so popular JBR Open Beach.  With all the sun, sand and sea – what are you waiting for?

Visit the Dubai Museum

This landmark, located in the Al Fahidi Fort, is the oldest existing structure in the city. A visit to this timeless building will give you insights into the history of Dubai across different time periods. The museum blends the old and new combining precious artifacts, drawings, samples as well as ultra-modern audio and video media content. The museum also helps one understand the age-old tradition of ship-building. It also stores a variety of pottery items too. The best part is that the entrance fees are just AED 3 for adults and AED 1 for children (under the age of 6).

Watch the Dubai fountain

Get a front-row seat to the world’s tallest performing fountain. The Dubai fountain combines music, light, and water in a breathtaking show that takes place daily. It is set on the Burj Khalifa Lake, a 30-acre man-made water structure and are visible throughout every point of the lake as well as structures and restaurants nearby. After seeing the fountain, step into the Dubai Mall, which is one of the largest shopping malls.

Cross the creek with an Abra

The traditional Abra ride is something that everyone should experience at least once (or more!). These traditional boats enable you to cross the Dubai Creek, the historical center of commerce in Dubai. Forget fancy cruises, this is the best open-air cruise you can enjoy. For a princely sum of a dirham, cross the Creek in these motorized boats while taking in the view of the older parts of town.

Chill at a Park

Dubai is home to some of the most beautiful public parks. These beautiful spaces, screaming with greenery, enable a person to be one with nature. The parks come equipped with bathrooms, shops, barbeque grills and plenty of shade. In addition to the usual barbeque areas, there are multiple beaches within the park as well as bike rental shops and groceries.

If you are planning on visiting a park this Saturday (April 07), we would love for you to visit the Al Barsha Pond Park – that’s because dubizzle Motors and RoadSafetyUAE have partnered to offer UAE drivers free, pre-summer safety car checks at the Ripe Market (happening at the Park) The idea is to raise awareness about vehicle safety.
