We’ve also filmed residents in the UAE like you and me, who had legal questions they wanted an answer to. Legal consultant, Ahmed Odeh, gives some useful advice that’s worth listening in on!
Alfred is buying a Dubai property. He needs clarity on who the cheques should be addressed to.
Alfred: ” I’m buying a property in Dubai. I actually just signed a purchase agreement.
Now I need to make a deposit for the property. What I don’t know, is can I make that check under the agent’s name?
Or should it be under the seller’s name?”
Legal Consultant, Ahmed Odeh: “Thanks Alfred for your question. The cheque can be held by the seller’s agent.
However, any payment made towards the purchase of the property, needs to be made in the
name of the seller. Otherwise, RERA will not accept the completion of the sale.
I hope I answered your question.”
