My agent in Abu Dhabi took a security deposit based on a verbal agreement that I wanted it for the price quoted but I did not sign the agreement as yet. Now, the agent says the landlord has increased the price. Does the landlord have the right to do so?

Answer:

Unfortunately, verbal agreements are not considered as binding in tenancy matters. If you have not signed a tenancy agreement then the landlord may choose to vary the rent until such time where you sign an agreement with each other.
